Korean Air, in a pioneering move within the aviation industry, has launched a captivating new inflight safety video featuring virtual humans. This innovative approach marks a significant step into the virtual world for airline safety briefings. The video presents a virtual flight attendant, Rina, who is a rising virtual influencer and Gen Z digital creator, popular on social media and known for appearing in brand advertisements. Alongside Rina, the video also features MAVE, a virtual K-Pop girl group consisting of four members: Siu, Zena, Tyra, and Marty. MAVE has gained popularity with their debut album and enjoys millions of streams and video views.

The video is set in the "Korean Air Safety Lounge," a digitally created space designed to facilitate an easier understanding of inflight safety rules. Rina, dressed in a Korean Air flight attendant uniform, delivers the safety instructions, while MAVE members play the roles of passengers. The decision to use virtual characters is driven by Korean Air's desire to engage a diverse customer base of various ages and cultural backgrounds. The aim is to capture passengers' attention and increase engagement levels during the crucial pre-flight safety demonstrations.

The video, which has been rolled out on all Korean Air flights from January 4, 2024, covers essential safety topics such as storing carry-on luggage, wearing seat belts, understanding prohibited items, cabin smoking regulations, and procedures in case of cabin pressure abnormalities. It also includes guidance on the locations of emergency exits and how to don a life jacket. The airline has also made the video available on its official YouTube channel, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing passenger awareness and engagement.
