Rolls-Royce has announced a significant new partnership with EVA Air, a major Taiwanese airline. The two companies have signed a Letter of Intent for a TotalCare® maintenance agreement, encompassing 36 Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines. These engines will power 18 newly acquired Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, marking a significant milestone for both companies.

TotalCare, a premium service offered by Rolls-Royce, is designed to provide operational certainty for customers. It achieves this by transferring the risk associated with time on wing and maintenance costs back to Rolls-Royce. The service is enhanced by the Rolls-Royce advanced engine health monitoring system, which delivers crucial data to increase operational availability, reliability, and efficiency.

Ewen McDonald, Chief Customer Officer – Civil Aerospace at Rolls-Royce, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership. He highlighted the benefits that EVA Air will enjoy, including improved fleet efficiency, reliability, and customer experience. McDonald also emphasized Rolls-Royce's commitment to operational excellence with the Trent XWB-97 engine and the TotalCare service.

On EVA Air's side, Clay Sun, the President of the airline, expressed excitement about the addition of 18 Trent XWB-97 powered A350-1000s to their fleet. Sun cited the engine's proven efficiency and reliability as key factors in their choice. He also noted that the Trent XWB-97's reduced carbon emissions align with EVA Air's sustainability goals. The airline plans to work closely with Rolls-Royce to ensure the aircraft provide an optimal flying experience for customers.

The Trent XWB-97 engine has established a reputation for reliability and durability, with over five years of service and more than two million flying hours. This figure is expected to exceed five million by 2025. The engine is praised for its versatility, proving equally efficient in short-haul and long-haul flights. This makes it an ideal solution for operators with diverse flight networks. The Trent XWB is recognized as the world's most efficient large aero engine currently in service. It is certified to operate on a 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blend and is compatible with 100% SAF for future use.

This agreement signifies a major step in EVA Air's journey towards modernizing its fleet and enhancing its operational efficiency. The partnership with Rolls-Royce through the TotalCare agreement promises to bring a new level of service and reliability to EVA Air's long-range operations.
