Lufthansa Cements Position in India with New Hyderabad-Frankfurt Service

Lufthansa German Airlines has further solidified its commitment to India, announcing the inauguration of its direct flights from Hyderabad, the capital city of Telangana, to Frankfurt, Germany. This new service, commencing on January 17, 2024, is a significant addition to Lufthansa’s global network and underlines the airline's focus on expanding its presence in the Indian market.

Hyderabad, historically known as the City of Pearls, has evolved into a modern hub for technology, aerospace, and pharmaceuticals, housing multinational giants such as Google, Microsoft, Boeing, and Airbus. The city's blend of rich historical heritage and contemporary economic dynamism makes it an attractive destination for both business and leisure travelers.

Lufthansa's new Hyderabad-Frankfurt route exemplifies the airline's recognition of India as its fastest-growing major market post-pandemic. According to George Ettiyil, Senior Director - South Asia at Lufthansa Group, the new service will provide 64 weekly flights to European hubs and onward connections to the largest network on the European continent. He highlighted that with the addition of this service, Lufthansa's capacity in India has increased by 14% compared to 2019 levels, marking a significant rebound and growth in the region.

Passengers traveling on the Hyderabad-Frankfurt route will enjoy a state-of-the-art travel experience aboard the new 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This modern fleet is renowned for its advanced features, ensuring enhanced comfort and an environmentally friendly journey.

The inauguration of the Frankfurt-Hyderabad flight, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Lufthansa CCO Heiko Reitz, not only celebrates the launch of this new route but also symbolizes Lufthansa's deepening ties with India. With over 700 employees in the country and a legacy spanning over 60 years, Lufthansa has been an integral part of India's aviation story.

The Hyderabad-Frankfurt service is a testament to the growing importance of South India in the global aviation landscape and Lufthansa's strategic commitment to catering to the burgeoning demand in this region. As Lufthansa continues to enhance its network in India, it reinforces the nation's position as a vital player in the global aviation sector.
