Air Asia Cairns

AirAsia Indonesia is set to launch flights to Cairns, making Asian travel more accessible for residents of Far North Queensland. The low-cost carrier will operate three weekly flights between Bali (Denpasar) and Cairns, starting on August 14, 2024. These flights not only connect Cairns to Bali but also provide access to over 130 destinations in the extensive AirAsia Group network, comprising seven airlines under the AirAsia brand.

To celebrate the new route, special launch fares are on sale now, starting from just AUD $159 from Cairns to Bali via the AirAsia website or AirAsia Move app.

AirAsia Indonesia CEO Veranita Yosephine expressed excitement about the new service, highlighting Cairns' breathtaking scenery, including the Great Barrier Reef and ancient rainforests. The route offers Australians unique and affordable travel experiences throughout Asia, promoting lesser-known destinations such as Labuan Bajo (Komodo Island) and Tanjung Setia Surf Beach.

The new service has garnered support from officials, including Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana, and Tourism Minister Michael Healy, who emphasized the strengthened relationship between Indonesia and Australia and the increased tourism potential for both regions.

Cairns Airport CEO Richard Barker noted that the new flights will provide direct connectivity from major Southeast Asian cities, boosting local tourism with an additional 28,000 seats in the first year. Tourism Tropical North Queensland CEO Mark Olsen welcomed the route, highlighting its appeal to travelers from Europe, the UK, and Asia.

The launch fare sale runs until June 16, 2024, with travel periods from August 14 to October 26, 2024, offering competitive prices on various routes. This new service underscores AirAsia's commitment to affordable and accessible air travel, enhancing connectivity between Australia and Asia.
