LOT Polish Airlines Launches Direct Flights from Warsaw to Riyadh

LOT Polish Airlines celebrated the inaugural flight connecting Warsaw with Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. This new route marks Riyadh as the second destination on the Arabian Peninsula for the national carrier, following Dubai. The addition of Riyadh to LOT's network follows recent expansions to Tashkent, Athens, and Oradea earlier in 2024.

The introduction of this direct flight comes at a pivotal time for Saudi Arabia, which is actively enhancing its tourism sector through the Vision 2030 initiative. This program aims to diversify the economy and attract international visitors, facilitated by an online visa system now available to EU, UK, and US citizens. The direct flights between Warsaw and Riyadh will operate three times a week, with departures from Warsaw Chopin Airport on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays at 3:20 p.m., and return flights from Riyadh on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1:25 a.m. local time. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 will be used for these flights, with a flight duration of 5 hours and 45 minutes to Riyadh and 5 hours and 30 minutes on the return journey.

Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm for the new route: “As the national carrier, we are aiming to be the first choice and partner for passengers in Poland and the CEE region in terms of exploring new travel offers. Therefore, we are all the more enthusiastic about the opening of the new route to Riyadh. A direct route between Warsaw and the capital of Saudi Arabia creates new opportunities, both for the tourism and business sectors. This testifies to our commitment to expanding LOT Polish Airlines’ international route network. Riyadh is a vibrant hub for culture and commerce, and by making it easily accessible, we are contributing to dynamic exchanges that will deliver mutual benefits for these two regions.”

Saudi Arabia, with a rich history spanning 2,800 years, is the 12th largest country in the world and boasts a coastline of approximately 2,500 kilometers. The country is home to seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites and over ten thousand archaeological sites, offering a diverse range of landscapes and cultural heritage. Riyadh, the nation's capital, seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, featuring landmarks such as the National Museum and Masmak Fortress alongside a futuristic skyline, luxury shopping malls, and world-class dining experiences.

Warsaw Chopin Airport, the primary hub for LOT Polish Airlines, is strategically located in the heart of Europe, serving as a crucial transfer point for both business and leisure travelers. The new connection between Warsaw and Riyadh not only provides passengers from the Arabian Peninsula with easy access to Poland but also opens up a plethora of destinations within LOT's extensive flight network. This includes major Western European cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt, as well as transatlantic routes to North American destinations like Toronto, New York, Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles.

Tickets for flights from Riyadh are now available through various sales channels, including the LOT website, LOT Contact Centre, and LOT Travel offices. This new route signifies LOT Polish Airlines' commitment to expanding its global reach and providing passengers with more travel options and opportunities.
