Qantas Unveils Redevelopment Plans for Adelaide Lounge

Qantas Club Adelaide

Qantas has announced the redevelopment of its lounge precinct at Adelaide Airport, set to commence this month. The project includes the construction of a new Domestic Business Lounge inspired by the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island's Flinders Chase National Park, as well as a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing Qantas Club and Chairman’s Lounge.

The initial phase of construction will focus on upgrading the Qantas Club, with an anticipated opening in mid-November. The new Domestic Business Lounge is slated to welcome its first guests by mid-2025. Despite maintaining the same overall footprint, the redesign will utilize currently under-utilized spaces to increase total seating capacity by over 10%.

The interiors of the new lounge precinct will reflect South Australia's unique landscapes, culture, and culinary heritage. This includes furniture, lighting, and natural materials sourced locally, alongside curated fittings by the Jam Factory and artwork by local First Nations artists.

This redevelopment is part of Qantas's $100 million investment in enhancing its global lounge network. Qantas Executive Manager for Product and Service, Phil Capps, highlighted that the upgrades will align with the preferences of customers flying from Adelaide and showcase excellence in South Australian design and hospitality.

Capps emphasized that the Adelaide Lounge Precinct will celebrate the best of South Australia, offering premium local food and beverages, increased seating capacity, and enhanced amenities. Approximately 80% of the seats will feature power stations and device ports, ensuring customers can conveniently charge their devices before flights.

During the construction period, the existing Qantas Club will remain operational for eligible customers, opening one hour before the first Qantas-operated service until the last departure. To accommodate peak travel times, a ‘Grab and Go’ service with premium breakfast options and barista coffee will be available.

This significant upgrade underscores Qantas’s commitment to providing a superior travel experience, enhancing both comfort and convenience for its customers at Adelaide Airport.
