AirAsia X Reconnects Kuala Lumpur and Xi’an, Strengthening Ties with China

AirAsia X (AAX) is set to resume services from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an, marking a significant step in the airline's network expansion in China. The resumption of three weekly flights from April 4, 2024, re-establishes a direct connection between Malaysia and the historically rich city of Xi’an, known as one of the four Great Ancient Capitals of China and the starting point of the Silk Road.

This development aligns with AAX's strategic growth plans in China, where it aims to strengthen its presence with five destinations. The Xi’an service also complements the AirAsia Group's broader reach in Mainland China, now encompassing 12 destinations. The resumption of this route, exclusive to AAX, aligns with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations and supports the visa-free initiatives between the two countries, facilitating easier travel and bolstering tourism.

In celebration, AAX has introduced promotional fares from Kuala Lumpur to Xi’an, with added incentives like a 20kg free baggage allowance for early bookings. The A330-200 aircraft serving this route promises a comfortable journey for travelers keen to explore Xi’an’s cultural and historical treasures, including the Terracotta Army and the Muslim Quarter.
