Australia’s Bonza Flights create over $125 Million in Savings for Travellers in First Year

Bonza Airlines

Australia’s only independent low-cost carrier, Bonza, is marking a significant milestone, celebrating a year since its inception, which has radically transformed the Australian aviation landscape. In its first year, Bonza has not only made air travel more affordable but has also saved Aussie travellers over $125 million, a figure anticipated to double by 2024.

Bonza, since its inaugural flight on January 31, 2023, has rapidly grown, operating 38 routes to 21 destinations across Australia. Remarkably, 84% of these routes are exclusive to Bonza, and 89% are not served by any other low-cost carrier. This unique market approach has allowed Bonza to cater to an underserved segment of Australian air travel, particularly benefiting regional areas.

Tim Jordan, the CEO of Bonza, proudly states, “It really is a Bonzaversary to remember. We’ve committed to making air travel affordable and accessible, especially for Australians in the regions. By saving over $125 million for our travelers, we’re fulfilling our mission. With plans for 2024, we’re set to save an additional $250 million for domestic travelers.”

In terms of growth, Bonza is not resting on its laurels. The airline is planning a fleet expansion beyond the current six aircraft, the addition of new routes, and the establishment of a fourth base by the end of 2024. This expansion signifies a significant step in Bonza’s commitment to enhancing domestic air travel in Australia.

An essential aspect of Bonza’s service is its competitive pricing, with fares starting at just $49 per person one way. This pricing strategy has opened up new travel opportunities for many Australians, allowing them to explore parts of the country previously inaccessible due to cost concerns.

Bonza’s team, known as Bonza legends, now exceeds 300 members and is a testament to the airline’s commitment to creating employment opportunities across Australia. “Our team has played a pivotal role in our success. We’re excited about the future, as we continue to connect Australia’s regional and leisure centers,” adds Jordan.

The airline’s innovative approach extends to its in-flight experience. Bonza boasts an all-Aussie menu, sourced entirely from local producers, and a gender-neutral uniform policy. The airline’s app-first approach, which includes in-app food and drink ordering, has been a game-changer in enhancing the customer experience.

To commemorate its first anniversary, Bonza is offering more than 200,000 seats across all its routes for $49 per person, available through the Fly Bonza app. This offer is a part of the airline’s commitment to making air travel more accessible to all Australians.

Bonza’s success in its first year is a clear indicator of its positive impact on the Australian aviation market. With plans for continued growth and expansion, Bonza is poised to reshape the landscape of Australian air travel, making it more affordable and accessible for everyone.
