Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific has officially resumed daily flight operations between Perth and Hong Kong, marking a significant milestone in Western Australia's international aviation recovery post-pandemic. This announcement was warmly received by Kate Holsgrove, Perth Airport’s Chief Commercial & Aviation Officer, who highlighted the importance of this development for various sectors including business travel, education, tourism, and personal visits between the two regions.

Cathay Pacific’s commitment to rebuilding its capacity since the pandemic has culminated in the return to a full daily service, offering over 214,000 seats annually to the Perth market. This expansion is not only pivotal for passenger travel but also plays a crucial role in facilitating cargo capacity for local exporters between Perth, Hong Kong, and the broader North Asian region.

For over five decades, Cathay Pacific has been a key partner for Perth Airport, playing an integral role in connecting Western Australia with Hong Kong and beyond. Holsgrove expressed her delight at the airline’s ongoing commitment to this route, emphasizing the vast network of destinations Cathay Pacific offers. With connections to 200 global destinations, including major cities across Asia, Europe, and North America, Cathay Pacific stands out as a gateway for Western Australians seeking international travel opportunities.

The airline’s network notably provides seamless access to mainland China and offers a variety of travel options to the Greater Bay Area, including Guangzhou and Macau, enhancing connectivity and travel flexibility for passengers.

Operated by the B777-300ER aircraft, the daily service includes flight CX171 arriving in Perth at 22:50 and flight CX140 departing Perth at 00:10. The B777-300ER is equipped to offer a superior in-flight experience, featuring a total of 294 seats spread across Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Each class is designed to provide the latest in in-flight entertainment and comfort, ensuring passengers enjoy a premium journey experience.

This resumption of daily services by Cathay Pacific is a testament to the resilience and recovery of international travel in Western Australia. It underscores the importance of strong airline partnerships in enhancing Perth’s connectivity to the world, supporting the local economy, and providing vital links for commerce, education, and family connections across the globe.
