Delta Enhances In-flight Experience with New Interiors on Select Aircraft
Delta Air Lines is set to elevate the flying experience for its customers as it begins the rollout of new First Class seats on select Boeing 737-800 aircraft, alongside an expansion of the Delta One cabin in its Airbus A350-900 fleet.
The latest interior refresh initiative marks a significant investment in passenger comfort and in-flight amenities. Delta’s newest First Class seat, which debuted on its A321neo aircraft in 2022, is now making its way into the Boeing 737-800 fleet. These seats offer enhanced privacy, increased personal storage space, and a more robust tray table, delivering a heightened level of comfort and convenience for passengers.
The improvements are not limited to the First Class cabin. Delta will also be updating the Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin sections on the selected Boeing 737-800 aircraft. These updates include the installation of new 10-inch Panasonic seatback screens, providing access to over 1,000 hours of premium entertainment via Delta Studio. The airline is also introducing upgraded lavatories featuring touchless amenities, alongside exterior enhancements like split-scimitar winglets, which are anticipated to significantly increase fuel efficiency by saving nearly 3.3 million gallons of fuel annually.
Delta's commitment to a premium in-flight experience extends beyond the Boeing fleet. The airline is responding to the growing demand for high-end travel options by expanding the Delta One cabin on its Airbus A350-900s. The expansion includes the addition of eight luxurious lie-flat suites, bringing the total to 40 Delta One Suites on these aircraft. This upgrade also features 40 seats in the Delta Premium Select cabin, 36 extra-legroom seats in Delta Comfort+, and 159 Main Cabin seats. The first Airbus A350-900 with this new configuration is expected to join the fleet in the summer of 2024.
These ongoing upgrades are part of Delta's broader strategy to offer a superior suite of products across its fleet. The airline has previously completed comprehensive cabin refreshes on its Boeing 767-400ER and other widebody aircraft, including the installation of Delta Premium Select cabins. Further enhancements are planned for select Boeing 757 and additional widebody aircraft.
Mauricio Parise, Delta's Vice President of Brand Experience, emphasized the airline's dedication to a consistent and premium customer experience. "Enhancing our aircraft interiors with select retrofits gives our customers more premium options to choose from and reaffirms our commitment to providing the best in-flight products," Parise stated.
As Delta continues to focus on customer satisfaction and sustainability, these enhancements represent a significant step forward in offering an unrivaled travel experience that aligns with modern travelers' expectations and environmental considerations.
